Hey Everyone!

Welcome back to another EXCLUSIVE. We have finally arrived at the last Matchday of the campaign.

The final is always a tough one to gain rank in, there’s less players to pick, less ways to be differentials and so it’s generally difficult to navigate.

In this article I will talk through the THREE WAYS you can gain rank or gain an edge over your mini-league rival. So, lets dive straight in.

1. Singular Differentials

Singular differentials have always a very good route to gaining rank. Singular differentials tend to be players whom lack in minutes, form, and conviction in general, so you have to have some luck when landing a big differential return.

Marco Reus should be one differential you consider this week. The Dortmund midfielder will play his last ever match for the club which could give him a lot of motivation going into the game.

As well as the above Reus also takes penalties which makes him much more appeal. His recent form also helps, three assists and four goals in his last four matches for club in fact.

Another player playing his last game for club is Toni Kroos. Kroos is a central midfielder which makes him naturally less attacking. However, eight goals and one assist in La Liga this season suggests he could have potential going into the final.

We also have to highlight the fact that in one match anything can happen.

Other singular differentials include:

  • Karim Adeyemi - Although inconsistent Adeyemi can tun up clutch in games and we saw that in MD4-MD6 where he picked up three consecutive returns on the bounce. His pace can be major issue for the Real Madrid backline, especially on counter-attacks.

  • Niclas Fullkrug - Staying with the Dortmund attack, an attack whom have netted 4-5 goals in two of their last four matches, we highlight Niclas Fullkrug. When Reus isn’t on the pitch this man takes the penalties. He also scored in two of his last three UCL matches too so he has enough output to convince.

Stacking

Stacking can be a big gamble, like all differential moves in a sense. Stacking usually goes well or badly and there doesn’t seem to be an in-between.

Stacking is when you stack up on one teams assets. In this case, UCL Fantasy managers could opt for a 4-5 man Dortmund defence. Dortmund have been stubborn throughout their campaign, on six occasions in fact.

Picking up a collective clean sheet from Kobel, Maatsen, Hummels, Schlotterbeck and maybe even Ryerson could rocket you up the ranks.

Even if the clean sheet isn’t there for the Dortmund defenders, they all have other routes to picking up points individually, whether that be ball recoveries, assists or even goals.

Some may even decide to go all in on the Real Madrid defence, which I think could work well if it comes in, just maybe not as much as the Dortmund defence.

Captaincy

Another huge way of gaining rank is captaincy. Captaincy is super important this week because we only get one shot to pick up a return. This makes it much easier to go against the likes of Vinicius Junior.

If you want to gain rank this week then captaining Vini just shouldn’t be the play. The Brazilian is by far the best captaincy option and most are probably going to opt for him. With that in mind, captaining another player could be hugely beneficial, or damaging.

For those looking elsewhere then I think there are several options. One of course plays for the same team. Jude Bellingham should definitely be a consideration after bagging six consecutive UCL returns at the start of the campaign.

Managers looking to go even more rogue could go for Mats Hummels. Hummels has collected 114 ball recoveries, three player of the match awards, one assist, one goal and six clean sheets in his current campaign.

As we can see, Hummels has multiple routes to points, so even if the clean sheet isn’t there, he is still very likely to rack up points.

Some could even captain players like Marcel Sabitzer, Jadon Sancho and even Niclas Fullkrug.

So, there’s three ways you can gain rank in the final. Some cold even decide to go for two or even three of the differential routes above. Either way, good luck for Matchday 13!
