Before we take a look at some of our fantastic articles for Matchday 8, international fantasy football whizz @FPLReaction reveals his tips for this week.

Well, we have finally arrived at the Matchday 8, and what a ride it has been!

I think rather than go all in on player, I have got some general tips about how to approach the round.

Should I use my Limitless?

This is obviously team dependent, but there are a few things we should consider ahead of the new round.

One of them is, is there another good time to use the Limitless? As the tournament progresses, the power of the Limitless decreases in general. The only other round you could possibly use it and do exceptionally better than those that don’t have one is probably Matchday 10. However, based on who I think will progress and where they will finish (I have simulated this), the teams and potential clashes we end up with for the playoffs aren’t great. In fact, it looks suitable for lots of good budget picks, which isn’t something you want as a Limitless user. There even appears to be a lack of big teams and players to stack up on.

Obviously it isn’t going to be nice seeing lots of Limitless teams across socials today, but I think if you can get a decent enough team with a -4 then it could be worth saving the Limitless. There is also a big chance that players like (Lewandowski, Raphinha) and others Limitless users won’t necessarily own, could outscore players who managers bring in on the Limitless.

As soon as you start needing a -8 and -12 though to fix your team, I think you just use the Limitless, especially when considering the line-ups may throw up even more shocks.

Essential Players

There are a few players I think are essential tonight, whether that be for those on a Limitless or those using just transfers.

Bayern are 43% odds to score 5+ goals against Slovan Bratislava tonight, so buying Harry Kane could be seen as an urgent matter. I’m not going to dress Kane up with stats and how bad Slovan Bratislava are, because you can see the odds. To put the odds into actual perspective, the next team most likely to score 5+ points is at 19% likelihood.

That team at 19% is actually Leverkusen. Although I personally think that percentage should be much higher, based on how good Leverkusen can be at home.

Anyway, this leads me into my next two essentials, Florian Wirtz and Alejandro Grimaldo. Both have proven excellent fantasy options, displaying both consistency and explosiveness. The former could also be a genuine competitor for the captaincy armband too, going toe-to-to with Kane.

I’m not quite sure I would deem any other assets essential this week, but I would definitely be putting Erling Haaland, Michael Olise or Jamal Musiala, Jeremie Frimpong, an Inter wing-back, Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe right up there!
