Harry Kane is yet to be ruled out of Matchday 2 due to the knock he picked up his recent match against Leverkusen. But, with the deadline upon us we may need to get a plan in place if we don’t receive news on his status.

Even if fully fit, some within the community may decide that away trips to Aston Villa and Barcelona in the next two Matchdays could limit his potential anyway.

Finding a replacement for Harry Kane is not going to be easy. There seems to be a lack of forward options across all price brackets which isn’t ideal. But, there are still some options we should consider.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland (€11m) and Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski (€9.5m) should be a priority this week for managers who don’t own them. The former has a fantastic away fixture against a Slovan Bratislava side who conceded five goals to Celtic in Matchday 1 and the latter has a plum home fixture against Young Boys who were swept aside in a 3-0 loss to Aston Villa.

However, a large proportion of UCL Fantasy managers own both of those players.

If UCL Fantasy managers can find the extra €0.5m then Vinicius Junior (€11m) could be a prime target.

Real Madrid have a lovely away fixture this week as they clash with Lille. The French side have been poor recently. Prior their 3-0 win against Le Havre in Ligue 1 they failed to win any of their four matches, conceding 2-3 goals in three of those same games.

Rumours suggest Kylian Mbappe is back amongst the Matchday 2 squad but the chances of him starting seem slim. This suggests that Vinicius Junior should also take up penalty duty.

Vinicius Junior isn’t just a one week replacement though. His side go into the competition as one of few favourites who have the ability to score against any side.

Staying with La Liga sides Atleti penalty and set play taker Antoine Griezmann (€9m) consistently goes under the radar in the UCL Fantasy community. You’ll see the Frenchman also comes in €1.5m cheaper than Kane so allows for a straight swap.

Atleti aren’t the most convincing side in the Champions League but they did impress during their 2-1 win against Leipzig in Matchday 1. Their fixtures also look enticing - with an away trip against a less convincing Benfica side and a home clash Lille. PSG lay ahead immediately after that but meetings with Sparta Praha and Slovan Bratislava that follow could mean huge potential for them.

If you thought he was short of actual attacking output that isn’t the case. Griezmann goes into his next Champions League match after scoring, registering an assist and picking up the player of the match award in Matchday 1.

If the four players mentioned above don’t suit your team then you should consider:

• Denis Undav (€7m) - Playing for a Stuttgart side who recently dismantled Dortmund in the Bundesliga Undav has scored in each of his last four matches in all competitions. The German faces Sparta Praha next and has great long-term fixtures.

• Victor Boniface (€7m) - At the same price you could back a player playing for arguably a better and more consistent side. The Nigerian spearheads the relentless Leverkusen attack and faces Milan who have shipped two goals in half of their games this season.
