EXCLUSIVE: @FPLREACTION
Matchday 12 is here, and it looks as though it’s going to be one of those weeks for rotation. Rotation is going to be key this week, but knowing which teams to back in general is also going to be tough
Because of the above, I’m going to run through each game and give you my opinion on rotation, what players are safe, and which teams we should be looking to invest in. Let’s dive straight in!
Barcelona v Benfica
I personally think this is one of the best fixtures you can invest in. Both sides are extremely unlikely to rotate and other than a ‘feeling’ Robert Lewandowski had in training, which was immediately cleared by the manager, everyone should start.
I’d be looking at the Barcelona attackers in this game (3-4).
Liverpool v PSG
The game seems on a knives edge this week, even though Liverpool have a 1-0 advantage. Personally, I don’t see any rotation in this game because of that.
I also think Liverpool will progress, so I’m on the side of selling PSG players, even their attackers.
Inter v Feyenoord

Sky’ Inter predicted line-ups are usually spot on, so the above is a major concern for the likes of Lautaro Martinez, Alessandro Bastoni and co.
I think I would be looking to sell Martinez ahead of Bastoni. Bastoni is likely to start the next game when they progress so hanging onto him could be handy. If not then you could go for Pavard.
Sommer is also expected to be back, so I’d also be tempted to buy him and sell goalkeeper Martinez.
Paixao is out for Feyenoord which is a major blow for them.
Leverkusen v Bayern
Both sides are unlikely to rotate, but Leverkusen have lost Florian Wirtz due to injury, which could really affect their overall performance.
Usually we would have heard something by now if Bayern were going to rotate key players, so I don’t think that will happen
We could see minutes managed though for the likes of Kane, Musiala and Olise.
I do like the thought of buying into Bayern early though before they inevitably face Inter. This would come in the form of both defenders and attackers.
Lille v Dortmund
The score is 1-1 going into the new round, so don’t expect massive rotation.
However, poor performances recently from Julian Brandt and Jamie Gittens could mean they miss out on starting.
I’m personally not keen owning multiple assets from Dortmund in this tie. They are probably facing Barcelona in the next round, so I’m not sure I would want heavy defence anyway.
Arsenal v PSV
Expect big rotation, or at least don’t be surprised by it. Not only have they got a 7-1 lead on PSV, but they also play Chelsea on the weekend, so starting key players feels silly.
However, we have seen with Mikel Arteta before, that he cares not for heavy rotation. Don’t be surprised to see just 2-3 changes.
I think Ethan Nwaneri should be a great pick though, he came off early against Manchester United, which should mean a start for him.
I think I would keep Raya, Gabriel and Timber unless having no fires elsewhere.
Atleti v Real Madrid
Don’t expect too much rotation here from either side. Of course Atleti may rotate one or two players, but they do every week anyway. The likes of Alvarez and Griezmann are safe though.
Bellingham, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior all suffered some sort of knock in their recent league game, but you can guarantee that all three start, along with Mbappe.
I think this game is a case of don’t buy and don’t sell.
Aston Villa v Club Brugge
Aston Villa are 3-1 in the game but they play Preston in the cup next. For that reason, I’m not sure we are going to see any key players rotated this week.
Even if Villa score, the likes of Rogers and Watkins could be safe, then rest in the Cup game against a poor Preston side.
With the above in mind the Aston Villa assets seem ok, but with Liverpool or PSG next, I’m not sure I would want to be holding onto them for too long.
