HOW TO GAIN RANK THIS WEEK

So, the rounds are getting tougher and potential feels like it’s becoming more and more limiting. The next two rounds are the final best opportunities to make a push before things get even more template.

With the above in mind, I’m going to talk through what is going to gain you rank this week. I also want to cover the things that I think will be template.

Firstly, some things that aren’t going to gain you rank:

  • Arsenal defence: Doubling up on the Arsenal defence just won’t gain you rank this week, everyone is doing it!

  • Dortmund defence: Dortmund are one of the most obvious defences to back this week, so similarly with Arsenal, doubling up just won’t be enough to gain an edge.

  • Inter defence: The best defence in the Champions League, if you are not tripling up, don’t expect to gain much rank if they do well.

  • Barcelona double attack: Barcelona have been the best attack in the Champions League. Most of the game will own a double up going into the new round.

The above is the core part of the template this week, so avoiding them (not avoiding them all), could give you an edge.

So what is going to gain you rank?

There are so many different routes you can go when it comes to gaining an edge this week, let’s take a look through some of them:

  • Club Brugge v Aston Villa - Literally any investment in this game is going to be differential. You could opt for even one defender from one of the teams, maybe even double up. Both teams haven’t been great lately so I wouldn’t be surprised to see clean sheets.

  • PSV v Arsenal - I’m not keen on the PSV attack, although it will be differential. I think a better route to go different here would be to own an Arsenal attacker, literally any of them, maybe even double up, You would probably have to triple up in defence though.

  • Dortmund v Lille - You could back Lille assets but I’m not keen. Tripling up on the Dortmund defence or doubling up in attack could be nice moves.

  • Real Madrid v Atleti - Defenders on both sides could be differential. Although a lot of casuals may opt for a Real Madrid defender. It’s safe to say Mbappe or Vinicius won’t be differentials, owning both could be. Julian Alvarez could be another nice shout from Atleti.

  • Feyenoord v Inter - I’d personally avoid Feyenoord. I also think tripling up on the Inter defence could be worthwhile. Any of the Inter forwards, more specifically Lautaro Martinez could be a great under the radar pick.

  • Benfica v Barcelona - I’m not sure I’d back any defences in the game, so it’s probably going to be a differential move. I think any Benfica attackers, and triple Barcelona attack are alternative routes to gain an edge this week.

  • PSG v Liverpool - Outside of Salah and Dembele, I don’t think we’ll see heavy ownership among the top managers in the game. Double PSG/ Liverpool attack or defence could work. I think even owning one defender from one of the teams could be fine.

  • Bayern v Leverkusen - Don’t expect Grimaldo, Kane or Wirtz to be alternative picks this week. I’m personally not keen on this game, so doubling up on either defence or attack from either side may gain you an edge if successful.

I think this could work: Double Brugge defence, triple Inter defence, double Liverpool defence, triple Barcelona attack, double Bayern attack, with a sprinkle of Trossard and Alvarez.
