Is KDB’s return bad for Foden and Alvarez?

Erling Haaland (£13.9m), Kevin De Bruyne (£10.2m) and Jeremy Doku (£6.5m) have all been pictured in training for Man City this week.

When De Bruyne, Doku and Haaland are back in the starting XI they will have an impact on some of the other FPL assets at Man City. The minutes of Julian Alvarez (£7.2m) will surely be at some risk when De Bruyne and Haaland are both available.

Alvarez has played in two main positions for Man City so far this season - the number 10 role and centre-forward. However, these are the positions where managers who normally find Haaland and De Bruyne. Of course Pep could change the formation to continue starting Alvarez who has been excellent for Man City this season. However, this could also impact the minutes and/or position of Phil Foden (£7.8m)

Foden has, in his words, been playing in his favoured position over the last two Gameweeks. He has really excelled in ‘the hole’. Foden can of course be moved back out to the right, however this would have a knock on impact on Bernardo Silva (£6.5m) who has been excellent in that position.

It is possible that De Bruyne could play in a deeper role alongside Rodri (£5.6m) however that addition would still potentially have an impact on the minutes of Alvarez.

Doku of course puts Jack Grealish’s (£7.2m) minutes at risk.

Managers might want to be patient with their investment with Man City, outside of Haaland. Patience would allow managers the opportunity to watch the Champions in both the FA Cup as well as against Newcastle in the league to see how Pep sets up his team now that he has most of his squad available again.
