EXCLUSIVE: FPL General Team Reveal

Gameweek 13 Review

In summary, it was another good Gameweek! Over the past two weekends, my overall rank has jumped from 751k to 111k thanks to having the big guns in midfield and no Erling Haaland (£15.0m) up front.

The free transfer was used to replace Rico Lewis (£4.7m) with Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.9m), who got a big fat zero. This sums up defenders as a whole so far this season.

One of my takeaways from last season was to trust Cole Palmer (£11.0m) more often this year with the armband, which worked out nicely in Gameweek 13.

I had to fight off the urge to move from Chris Wood (£6.6m) to Joao Pedro (£5.8m) ahead of Brighton and Hove Albion’s home game against Southampton. Thankfully the patience was rewarded, as it often is in this game. The question now is whether to keep the New Zealander or not…

Gameweek 14 Bus Team

I’ve got one free transfer available and just £0.1m in the bank. I think I’m going to roll the transfer, it’s been a while since I’ve done so. The team looks fine for midweek.

Chris Wood could go, but the upcoming fixtures are not as bad as they seem on paper for Nottingham Forest. Next up it’s Manchester City, the team that has conceded the most xG (10.41) over the past four Gameweeks. Then, it’s Manchester United (away), Aston Villa (home), Brentford (away) and Tottenham (home). I don’t mind those fixtures at all for an attacker who has scored nine goals this season. He could be a season-keeper.

With no cash in the bank, I’m not overly excited about the possible replacements, the likes of Yoane Wissa (£6.1m), Jorgen Strand Larsen (£5.6m), Joao Pedro, Evanilson (£6.0m) or Liam Delap (£5.6m). They’re all good picks in their own right but I’m not sure any of them are worth a transfer. I’d like to have two frees plus another Gameweek’s worth of information for the weekend. I’m always fearful of rotation during this December midweek round of games, which also has me reluctant to make a move. Any one of those five could get a rest.

One decision I do need to make is whether to start Ait-Nouri or Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m), who will feature in the same match. Mykolenko has better clean sheet potential but he’s got zero attacking returns this season, whereas Ait-Nouri has scored three times and provided two assists. The more attacking full-back will get the start. When I’m hoping that Matheus Cunha (£7.1m) is going to wipe out the Everton clean sheet, it makes sense to play his teammate.

The captaincy is an easy decision this week. Chelsea talisman Palmer faces a Southampton team that rank 20th in the league for xGC (27.84). I’m not going to overthink this one.
