@FPLReaction AFCON season & Gameweek 5 targets

Hey Guys!

We have had some massive shocks during AFCON so far haven’t we? From Ivory Coast rising from despair to knock out holders Senegal to South Africa forcing favourites Morocco out, it has all been very fun.

From a Fantasy perspective, Gameweek 4 was not very fun, or at least for me. As you can see I dropped from around 200th in the world to 557th which wasn’t ideal. However, considering everything that happened between captain Nsue and Hakimi I will take it.

In terms of moving forward there are a lot of players that will become template. Those players include the likes of Osimhen (captain), Ekong, Wissa, Mendes, Gelson and Lookman. In reality everyone is going to have a similar team which will make it very difficult to gain rank.

So, I think we need to cover things I think we can do to gain rank. Obviously there are a lot of 50/50’s this week with the likes of Zwayne or Tau, Doumbia or Sinayoko and Bebe or Mendes. But I still think the majority will go for the latter options there so backing the former options could be a great way to go different.

Another way to go different would be to not captain Osimhen. There are some other options but none standout as much as Osimhen in terms of form, opposition etc so it could be very dangerous to go down that route.

Other ways to play differential would be to back a double up from one particular country (for example: Mendes and Bebe, Doumbia and Sinayoko etc). An individual asset that could be a great differential is Kessie. I personally don’t think many will go there after failing to start the last match but I think he will start and do well.

In terms of my own game plan I think, although chasing rank, it would be foolish to not captain Osimhen. I may either wait for the next round to go different or go against some of the 50/50’s as mentioned above.

Good luck for the new round!
