Hey Guys!

After what was seemingly quite a quiet week for fantasy returns we now have a big opportunity to make changes with unlimited transfers.

With only 16 teams left in the competition many of you will now be in different situations in terms of rank and mini-league position.

So, with that in mind, rather than give you some essentials or differentials I am going to pick out my favourite assets from each team. Doing this will also help with clarifying some of your decisions. I will also touch upon captaincy, differentials and anything else relevant with each pick you see below.

Switzerland v Italy

The first game is a tight one and I’m really not keen on an attacker. Both have impressed me and if I was going to back anyone from Italy it would be Alessandro Bastoni.

Bastoni is one of the best in the game for ball recoveries but also ranks the best in his position for big chances total.

If you want a Switzerland asset then similar to Italy I would back a defender, Manuel Akanji to be specific. As well as ball recoveries Akanji also won a player of the match award, highlighting his ability to stand out on the pitch.

Germany v Denmark

Germany have been excellent so far. I think I would still prefer an attacker against Denmark and in that case would back Ilkay Gundogan. Penalties, minutes, and form are three reasons I prefer him over both Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz.

I’m not keen on the Germany attacking double up so my second favourite asset would be Maximilian Mittelstädt. Rumours continue to circulate that Niclas Fullkrug will start ahead of Kai Havertz and the former has very good aerial threat thus making Mittelstädt a better option (Maximilian Mittelstädt ranks second highest amongst defenders for crosses so far).

I don’t think Denmark are going to progress or get much from the game but if they do it will likely be because of Christian Eriksen who has been hugely influential so far.

England v Slovakia

I think you have to go heavy on England in this game. From a defensive perspective Marc Guehi is the standout out due to ball recovery potential but Jordan Pickford could also be one of the best goalkeeper options for the round ahead.

I’m concerned about the minutes of Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden which makes Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham naturally much safer. I think England will finally score goals this week and feel they will both be involved.

Slovakia aren’t a team I would advise backing but full-back David Hancko has impressed me.

Spain v Georgia

Spain have been fantastic so far both defensively and offensively so it could be wise to stock up on their assets.

Defensively I prefer Marc Cucurella due to ball recovery potential. However, if I had the budget I would opt for Dani Carvajal who has a lot more attacking threat for country.

In attack the midfielders feel really underwhelming to me. For that reason my favourite attacker is probably Alvaro Morata who leads the frontline. If forced to pick a midfielder then it would have to be Nico Williams who recent picked up a player of the match award.

For those looking at a Georgia player then budget striker and penalty taker Georges Mikautadze has returned in each of his matches so far.

France v Belgium

One of the biggest clashes of the round and one I could look to avoid is France v Belgium. Both sides have been less than convincing in the Group Stage but If asked to pick I’d probably give France the edge.

I would also have no stress holding onto Kylian Mbappe who tends to play even better against bigger opposition.

I’m not keen on any of the Belgium assets but having to pick one it could be centre-back Wout Faes who comes in at €4m because he has good ball recovery potential.

Portugal v Slovenia

For me Portugal are heavy favourites for this tie. As well as impressing defensively I think they also have huge qualities in attack.

Similar to England they have two standout defensive assets, goalkeeper Diogo Costa and fullback Joao Cancelo. Costa could be ideal to cover the left side of the draw as our goalkeeper and Cancelo has several routes to points which would give him potential in the tougher fixtures if Portugal progress.

Offensively Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t done enough for to convince me which would mean Bruno Fernandes the best attacking option. Fernandes can be both creator and goal threat which contributes to his massive overall appeal.

If you are prepared to back Slovenia then Group Stage goal scorer and fullback Zan Karnicnik feels like their best option.

Romania v Netherlands

Not a lot of people fancy Netherlands this week but I think we could see them put Romania to the sword.

Defensively they have an array of different options from the historically attacking Denzel Dumfries to captain Virgil Van Dijk who has ball recovery potential. But I think their best option with a mix of both attacking threat and ball recoveries could be Nathan Ake.

Leading the frontline is of course Memphis Depay who has both scored already and potentially penalty taking duty. Depay is getting into some fantastic shooting positions and that should continue this week.

Those wanting to invest in Romania could back €4m goalkeeper Florin Nita.

Austria v Türkiye

Austria have a good opportunity to continue their brilliant attacking form. They face one of the worst defences in the competition next up and both Christoph Baumgartner and Marcel Sabitzer seem like standouts.

I personally prefer Sabitzer, he’s a minutes man, takes set pieces, takes penalties when Arnautovic isn’t on the pitch and scored recently.

For Türkiye I think you have to look at Real Madrid attacker Arda Guler. Guler has proven star quality and with Hakan Calhanoglu absent due to suspension Guler will have to give even more to help his team progress.
